Titanium Wedding Rings are Strong and Lasting
October 15th, 2008 by Michael Brooks | Filed under Uncategorized.Titanium - it evokes thoughts of durability and strength. What better symbol for the devotion and commitment of a wedding ring could there be? Although it may seem rather common, this metal has attributes that lend themselves easily to crafting stylish and durable wedding and engagement rings.
One of the strongest metals in existence is titanium. It takes considerable force to cause a titanium ring to get out of round. For instance, it’s less likely than a gold wedding ring to be dented if you catch your hand in a car door. It’s possible to scratch it, but it’s not easy. It will look brand new with just some minor polishing.
In spite of this hardness, there is no need to worry about a titanium ring getting stuck in an emergency situation. In extreme circumstances, a gold ring can be bent out of shape and create painful pressure on the finger. With a titanium wedding ring, this is more unlikely. But if it should happen, the ring can be cut off just as any other.
Strength is one reason that titanium makes its way into jets and other high-tech applications. But there’s another: it’s ultra-light, about 1/3 the weight of gold. Many enjoy the feathery feel of a titanium ring. It sits lightly on the hand and presents no resistance to moving the finger. For those who spend so much time at the keyboard these days, that can be a big plus.
And, because it is hypoallergenic and medically safe, titanium wedding rings can be worn full time with no concerns. There’s no effect on the skin. Titanium is used in hip implants and other medical applications and is perfectly benign.
Titanium engagement or wedding rings aren’t just a practical wonder, though. Plus, they are incredibly beautiful.
Natural titanium is a grayish metal, similar to stainless steel only brighter. It polishes to a high sheen and, because it’s so hard, can be worked into brilliant designs. Those qualities make for a subtle, yet ultra-elegant and different style of jewelry. During the manufacturing process, it can also be treated so it becomes a shining black in color. Be sure, though, to get a genuine black titanium ring, not one that has merely been coated and will have to be retreated.
Men especially like the edgy style that comes with this alternative wedding ring material. By mixing the black and gray kinds you get more of a design range. The end result is an outstanding wedding band that is extremely lightweight as well as distinct and fashionable.
When deciding on a wedding ring, take a look at this distinct style. Remember, you’re unique. Shouldn’t your ring be too?
